WHEELERSBURG, OH-After a scheduled month long break, the Southern Ohio Speedway is set to return to action this Friday, September 14th for “Meet the Drivers Night” and the “Season Championships.”  The racing card will feature Late Models-$2,000 to win, Jordan Heating & Cooling UMP Modifieds-$600 to win, Street Stocks-$400 to win, GCP Engines Sport Mods-Regular Purse, and Classic Cars-Regular Purse.

In addition to the racing action, all race fans in attendance will have the opportunity to meet their favorite drivers.  During intermission the track will bring all of the race cars on the fronstretch and allow the fans to go out on the track for a meet and greet session with the drivers.  This is an excellent opportunity for race fans who do not usually purchase pit passes to talk to the drivers they watch compete week in and week out.

Friday’s races will also be the final points race of the 2012 season.  Eddie Carrier Jr. (Late Model), Jeremy Rayburn (Jordan Heating & Cooling UMP Modified), and Eric Dennison (GCP Engines Sport Mod) have already clinched the track championship in their respective divisions, but the Street Stock track championship battle is still wide open.  Conard Newman currently holds a narrow five point advantage over Tim Cutler in the track championship battle.  If Newman finishes in front of Cutler he clinches the track championship.  Cutler can clinch the track championship under two scenarios.  Cutler can clinch by winning the feature or by finishing two positions ahead of Newman.

Gates will open on Friday at 4:00 pm with hot laps starting the nights action at 7:30 pm.  General admission is $12 for ages 17 and up, $5 for teens ages 13-16, $2 for kids ages 7-12, and FREE for kids ages 6 and under. Pit passes are $25 for ages 13 and up, $15 for ages 7-12, and FREE for ages 6 and under.
