Southern Ohio Speedway announces enhanced fan experience for 2013

WHEELERSBURG, OH-As the 2013 season is quickly approaching, the Southern Ohio Speedway is proud to announce an enhanced fan experience for the upcoming season.  The track’s goal through the enhanced fan experience is to provide the most entertaining shows possible for our race fans.

First and foremost, the track is continuing it’s dedication to provide the most exciting racing action possible for 2013.  The racing action was top notch last season and track management is dedicated to making it even better for 2013 by working hard each and every week to provide the most competitive racing surface possible.  Race fans and teams will once again be able to follow the track on Facebook and get behind the scenes access of the track prep work that goes on each and every week.

The track is also putting an extra focus on getting shows completed at an earlier time this season.  The first step the track has taken is going back to a four division racing program to cut down on the number of classes being ran on a given night.  The track is also looking at implementing new rules this season to ensure cars are in the chute and ready to go for all races, cutting down on possible long intermissions.

Race fans will be able to become more involved in the tracks weekly shows through a new rules change and a new promotion.  The way the dash races are set during the 2013 season for the Late Model and Modified divisions have been changed.  In an effort to prevent sandbagging, the top six qualifiers will now draw for their starting positions in the dash race.  The draws will take place at the base of the flagstand and include six race fans for each draw.  Each fan drawn through their general admission ticket numbers will be given a driver to draw for and the position they draw will determine where their driver starts in the dash race.

Each race night 10 race fans will be chosen through ticket numbers to compete in the “Southern Pick Em’ Challenge.”  Each fan will pick who they think will win the nights Late Model or Sprint Car feature.  The fans will pick in the order that their ticket numbers are drawn.  Once one driver is picked, that driver cannot be picked anymore.  The fan who’s driver wins the race will win a free general admission ticket and will be allowed to go down to victory lane to greet the feature winner.

The fan experience will also be enhanced by an increased focus on the overall track environment through the music played over the PA, giveaways, and special promotions throughout the year.  The track will also continue to offer a family friendly environment as SOS will be a alcohol-free facility once again in 2013.

“This year we are going to focus more on increasing fan involvement at our shows and making an overall fun experience for fans of all ages”, stated H&L Motorsports co-owner T. J. Layne.  “Providing exciting racing like Southern is well known for will always be our top priority.  Fans come to Southern expecting to see a well ran, exciting evening of racing and we will do everything in our power to not just meet, but exceed those expectations.  We believe it’s also important though to create an enhanced fan experience by getting the fans involved and making a fun atmosphere so we are also going to make that a priority this upcoming season.  We want everyone to get the best bang for their buck when they come to SOS.”

Southern Ohio Speedway will once again be commited to providing family friendly ticket pricing this season.  Weekly shows will see general admission prices of $12 for ages 17 and up, $5 for ages 13-16, $2 for ages 7-12, and free for ages 6 and under.  Pit passes will be $25 for ages 13 and up, $15 for ages 7-12, and free for ages 6 and under.  The action all gets underway this season with “Opening Night” on Saturday, April 6th featuring Late Models-$2,000 to win, Modifieds-$600 to win, GCP Engines Sport Mods, and Pure Stocks.  The track will also host two pre-season Test N’ Tunes prior to Opening Night.  The Test N’ Tunes will take place on Saturday, March 23rd and Saturday, March 30th.
