WHEELERSBURG, OH-With the start of the 2013 season less than six weeks away, it’s time to preview the 2013 season for each of the track’s four weekly classes. The first class to preview is the brand new Pure Stock class.
Lot’s of excitement for the 2013 season centers around the track’s new division, the Pure Stock class. The Pure Stock class was put together by SOS management to be the most cost effective class offered at the track. The class has been designed to be a class that will produce competitive racing but also be heavily restricted rules wise to keep costs down. Since the class was announced last November the track has received a lot of interest from people interested in building cars for this class.
As with any new class, there are lots of unknowns heading into the season. With the April 6th race being the first race for this class in the new-era of SOS, there is no previous driver roster to look at to know who will be the cars to beat. This helps to create some excitement as it will literally be wide open as to who will win the first handful of races of the season in the division. It’s a class where new winners will be seen quite often and also a class that will generate new stars.
Another unknown heading into the season will be car counts. With all of the interest the class has generated the track is expecting strong car counts by the end of the year but as witnessed with the GCP Engines Sport Mod division last year, car counts will likely be sparatic the first part of the season. Regardless, the track is commited to this class for 2013 and the long term future.
The Pure Stock division is on the racing card for a total of 20 races this season. The only time the track is not schedule to race will be the first night of the “18th Annual Southern 100″ weekend on Friday, May 3rd. The class will take center stage on Friday, July 19th for the “Pure Stock Shootout” that will pay $300 to win for the class. Anybody interested in the class should click HERE to view the Pure Stock rules and call SOS tech official John Hunt at (740)-646-8314 for any questions you may have.
The 2013 season at SOS unofficially get’s underway with a couple of pre-season Test N’ Tune days on Saturday, March 23rd and Saturday, March 30th. The season officially get’s underway with Opening Night on Saturday, April 6th featuring Late Models-$2,000 to win, Modifieds, GCP Engines Sport Mods, and Pure Stocks.
