Event Preview: Southern 100 Tune-Up this Friday, April 26th

WHEELERSBURG, OH-The countdown for the biggest weekend in Southern Ohio Speedway history is almost over with.  This Friday, April 26th will feature the “Southern 100 Tune-Up”, the final race before the huge Southern 100 weekend on May 3rd and 4th.  The Southern 100 Tune-Up will feature a full racing program of Late Models, Modifieds, GCP Engines Sport Mods presented by Tomahawk Race Cars, Pure Stocks, and the Ohio Valley Roofing Legends Car Series.

Late Model Preview
The Late Model racing this season has been tremendous with two different winners in two races.  Last week’s Late Model feature was among one of the most exciting in the new-era of the track.  The action in the Late Model division is expected to be tremendous this Friday as race teams will look to get laps on the track for the final time before the huge Southern 100 weekend.  Will there be three different winners in three different races?  Who will carry the momentum heading into the Southern 100?  Come out to the track this Friday to find out!

Modified Preview
Just like in the Late Model division, the 2013 season is off to a great start in the Modified division.  There have been two first time SOS winners in the first two races.  The racing action so far has been tremendous.  A potential $1,800 to win will be on the line for the Modified division for the Southern 100 weekend as Modified drivers will also be looking to get laps on the track for the final time before the big weekend.  Friday, May 3rd will pay Modifieds $800 to win while Saturday, May 4th will pay Modifieds $1,000 to win.  Race fans should see another excellent show in the Modified division on Friday.

GCP Engines Sport Mod Preview
The GCP Engines Sport Mod division has also got off to a tremendous start to 2013 as the class has averaged 21 cars in the first two races.  Danny Hamilton has been the man to beat so far in the class as he has won the first two races.  Mike Newton and Colten Wright have also got off to really strong starts with top five finishes in both races.  Newton and Wright sit second and third in points.  A great show is expected Friday in the GCP Engines Sport Mod presented by Tomahawk Race Cars division.

Pure Stock Preview
Barry Brister has won both Pure Stock features to start the season.  Each race has seen only two entries, but SOS remains committed to the class and looks forward to seeing the class grow in the coming weeks.

Ohio Valley Roofers Legends Cars
The Ohio Valley Roofers Legends Car Series was originally scheduled to be at SOS on April 13th but weather postponed that event to this Friday, April 26th.  Around 10-12 of the Legends cars are expected to be in attendance.  It is expected to be a great show as the OVR Legends will be racing on the largest track they will compete on this season.

Times and Admission Prices
Gates will open on Friday at 4:00 pm with hot laps starting the nights action at 7:30 pm.  General admission is $12 (ages 17 and up), $5 (ages 13-16), $2 (ages 7-12), and free (ages 6 and under).  Pit passes are $25 (ages 13 and up), $15 (ages 7-12), and free (ages 6 and under).  For more information visit www.southernohiospeedway.com.
