WHEELERSBURG, OH-The Southern Ohio Speedway is proud to announce that the “5th Annual Black Jack and Farley Boggs Memorial Race” will be held at SOS on Saturday, October 5th. The race will pay a minimum of $3,000 to win for Late Models and $800 to win for Modifieds. The purse will be increased with sponsorship. Also on the racing card will be GCP Engines Sport Mods presented by Tomahawk Race Cars, Pure Stocks, and Enduros.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to host this years Black Jack and Farley Boggs Memorial Race”, stated H&L Motorsports co-owner T. J. Layne. “The Boggs family has meant a lot to Southern Ohio Speedway and the entire sport of dirt track racing over the years. We cannot thank Randy and the entire Boggs family enough for allowing us to host the race this year, it is an honor for us.”
The Boggs family has seen much success at the Southern Ohio Speedway over the years. Both “Black Jack” Boggs and Randy Boggs are members of the Southern Ohio Speedway Hall of Fame and are both two time Southern 100 winners. The Boggs brothers frequented SOS victory lane in the 1980′s and 1990′s. Jackie Boggs, son of “Black Jack”, is also a two time Southern 100 winner, Southern 50 winner, Southern Showdown winner, and has more Late Model feature wins in the SOS modern era than any other driver. The Boggs brothers of Jack and Randy were both introduced to the sport of dirt track racing by their older brother Farley.
The Black Jack and Farley Boggs Memorial Race originated at the Willard Speedway in Willard, Kentucky in the year 2008. With the exception of the year 2011, the race has been held every season since. Jackie Boggs has won every Black Jack and Farley Boggs Memorial Race.
