Brad Miller wins 1st Annual Spring Thaw Enduro

WHEELERSBURG, OH-The long offseason came to an end on Saturday, March 15th at the Southern Ohio Speedway under sunny, 60 degree skies for the running of the 1st Annual Spring Thaw Enduro.  A diverse field of 25 Enduro’s entered the inaugural preseason event.

The day started with the always exciting Time Trial Challenge.  An extra twist was added to this years Time Trial Challenge as the area where the drivers make the turn on their white flag lap was watered heavily to make that more of a challenge.  Justin McNutt was fastest among the 25 entries in an exciting qualifying session.

In preliminary racing action, Brad Miller, winner of last November’s Fall Havoc, took the Dash for Cash win.  That win earned Miller the pole position for the 10 lap shootout in The Main Event.  Michael Howard, Jonathan Caldwell, and Tim Howard won heat races.

With extremely slippery track conditions, the 30 minute endurance segment of The Main Event took a toll on several of the cars.  By the end of the 30 minute endurance segment, only 12 of the 25 starters remained.  The 10 lap shootout for the Spring Thaw Enduro title got underway with Brad Miller and Zack Pendleton battling for the lead.  Miller was able to pull away towards the middle part of the race until he had a couple of tangles with lap cars.  This allowed Pendleton to get right back up to Miller.  Miller was able to hold off the late race charge from Pendleton to lead all ten laps and win the 1st Annual Spring Thaw Enduro!

The Southern Ohio Speedway will resume preseason action on Saturday, March 22nd with Test N’ Tune #1.  Gates will open at 11:00 am with open practice from noon until 6:00 pm.  General admission is free while pit passes are $10 or ages 7 and up an free for ages 6 and under.  For more information visit
