WHEELERSBURG, OH-For the first time in the new-era of SOS, rain has won on Opening Night as the Opening Night races on Friday, April 4th have been canceled.  Heavy rains on Thursday have saturated the grounds and made it impossible to get the races in.  As if that wasn’t enough, a 100% chance of rain is in the forecast for Friday.

The Opening Night races have been rescheduled for Friday, April 11th.  This will be the first race in the Road to the Southern 100 and feature Super Late Models-$3,000 to win, Modifieds-$800 to win, GCP Engines Sport Mods, OVR Legends, Pure Stocks, and Enduro’s at the end of the night.  Gates will open at 4:00 pm with hot laps scheduled for 7:15 pm.  General admission is $15 (ages 17 and up), $5 (ages 13-16), $2 (ages 7-12), and free (ages 6 and under).  Pit passes are $30 (ages 13 and up), $20 (ages 7-12), and free (ages 6 and under).

“With all of the anticipation for Opening Night, it’s ashamed the weather has forced us to push it back a week”, stated SOS co-promoter T. J. Layne.  “We always have to look at the positive side though and this will give teams an extra week to get ready and will allow teams that weren’t ready this week the opportunity to race in Opening Night.  The extra week of excitement and anticipation should help make for an even more electric atmosphere when we turn cars loose next Friday night.”
