Event Preview: Trucking Night, April 24th


WHEELERSBURG, OH-Following an exciting Opening Night, the Southern Ohio Speedway returns to action this Friday, April 24th with Trucking Night.  The exciting racing card will boast nearly $15,000 in total purse money with Late Models-$2,000 to win, $250 to start, Modifieds-$750 to win, $140 to start, Sport Mods-$300 to win, $35 to start, OVR Legends, a $400 to win Late Model Consolation Feature (with 5 cars or more), and a $200 to win Modified Consolation Feature (with 5 cars or more)

Consolation Feature Format Change
Effective this Friday, April 24th, at least 5 cars must attempt to start the Consolation Feature for the race to be ran.

Late Model Preview
Last Friday saw near track record breaking times in the Late Model division with Kentucky’s Dustin Linville taking his first career SOS feature win.  Linville faced several challenges from Shannon Thornsberry and Stephen Breeding and then held off Jake Keaton and Audie Swartz late in the race to take the win.  In the Consolation Feature, last year’s WRS Late Model track champion Mike Myers took the win.

An exciting show is expected this Friday in the Late Model division as more drivers look to be in attendance to race for their part of over $9,000 in purse money in the class.

Modified Preview
Lucasville, Ohio’s Jeremy Rayburn picked up where he left off last season by claiming the big win in the Modified division.  Rayburn was the dominant car all night.  Kentucky driver Brian Wilburn finished second with Anthony Slusher third.  Wilburn and Slusher went on to have a great battle in the Consolation Feature with Wilburn taking the $200 win.  Another great show is expected Friday in the Modified division!

Sport Mod Preview
The Sport Mods put on the most exciting feature event of the night with last year’s track champion Emily Jordan taking the Opening Night win for the second year in a row.  Jordan battled with Sam Hobbs, Danny Hamilton, and Tony Whitt Sr. to take the win.  The Sport Mods had a good car count last week with even more cars expected to be in attendance this Friday.

OVR Legends Preview
The always exciting Ohio Valley Roofers Legends Car Series will take to the track this Friday, April 24th for their first of two visits to SOS.  These Legends Cars always put on an exciting show.  Peebles, Ohio driver Steven Partin took the win in the series opener last weekend at the Florence Speedway.

Times and Admission Prices
Gates will open at 4:00 pm on April 17th with drivers meeting set for 6:45 pm and hot laps set for 7:15 pm.  Admission prices will remain the same as they have been since 2011 for races that boast a purse total as high as this Friday’s races (previously $3,000 to win, LM, $800 to win Mod shows, but now with the money spread more through the field).

General admission will be $15 (ages 17 and up), $5 (ages 13-16), $2 (ages 7-12), and FREE (ages 6 and under).  Pit passes will be $30 (ages 13 and up), $20 (ages 7-12), and FREE (ages 6 and under).
